I took lots of peoples advice and ordered a half size up from what I normally wear. That seemed to do the trick lengthwise, but there is also a problem with the width! They felt great for the hour or two wearing them around the house, but it wasn't until I took them outside that I noticed that they pinch my feet laterally. Unfortunately I think the problem is bad enough that they will most likely not break in enough to be completely comfortable, which is a shame because I really like this shoe. I will hopefully update in a couple weeks if the situation improves, but for now I would recommend getting a size wider than normal as well as at least a half a size bigger.
