Cole Haan Men's Lenox Hill Cap Oxford
CUSTOMER REVIEW
A couple say that their shoes acquired scuffs or scratches, and one guy even complains that his shoes "de-laminated" after some wear. Uh, guys? These are dress leather, open-lace, cap-toe shoes FOR GROWN-UPS. They cannot de-laminate because they aren't laminated to begin with. As a presumably adult male, you should own shoe polish and the makings of at least a small shoe-shine kit and you should know how to use them. Don't blame the shoemakers for your lack of couth.
To actually discuss the shoe itself, I would say that they do run slightly long in the toe. That said, I hesitate to order it any smaller than my normal size, as that might then be too narrow. I'm guessing that adding a pair or Dr. Scholl's custom orthotic inserts might make these a perfect fit, but I think they'll do fine just as they are. And yes, like all new dress shoes they will require some breaking in. But they are good-looking, versatile shoes. And while I normally prefer a leather sole, the non-slip soles on these should work out better for me at my job.
I'm happy with these so far, and will update if anything changes.
***UPDATE****
I went without the inserts, and after 3 or 4 wearings they broke in beautifully. I would now say they are among my most comfortable shoes, second only to my prized Ted Baker pair. And I don't know if it's the breaking in or my perception, but they no longer seem overly long either. Recommended.
