New Balance Men's MX20v3 Minimus Cross-Training Shoe
CUSTOMER REVIEW
These are a minimalist shoe, so they don't have a lot of support. It has a 4mm heel drop which puts you in a very neutral position for doing cross training, which is what you want; you can feel your feet. Makes for a more intimate workout. I wear these strictly in the gym for about half hour +, while i do tabata training or longer format interval training. I have been exercising for over 40 years, so i think i know my way around a pair of shoes. These are great shoes - for the gym they give great lateral support for doing footwork and hold your feet in well. They remind me of my Asics Tiger wrestling shoes i had back in the 70's, but with way better everything. I don't run in these shoes per say. I prefer my mr10v2 which are running shoes. I read some of the recent reviews that only gave the shoes 2 stars or so and they sound like "NB Haters". Probably someone from another shoe company, Merril, Adidas, Rebbok, Converse - who knows- who cares? The MX20's don't dig into my heel and such. The only negative that i would have about the shoe, but doesn't apply to MX20 is that if your foot sweats a lot and you do the barefoot thing (recommended) then the shoe might not smell so good and feel like a new slipper. Read my other review about the MR10WB2. It has the same shoes last NL-1 so the fit is nearly identical.
suffice to say I have three NB shoes and i just looked at the MO10GT (GoreTex), which is very nice, just wish it was made local.
The other peeve that i have and it is minor is that i now will own three Minimalist shoes and they are a bit pricey and have a limited shelf life. The cross trainers should last longer since they are worn inside. To NB's credit they have done a good job designing shoes to fit each niche and activity.
1. x-trainer MX20
2. Runner MR10
3. Trail Shoe MO10 (near future)
For those not in the know the New Balance Style code # is this:
MO - mens outdoor
MX - Mens crosstrainer
MT - Mens Trail
MR - Mens running
then comes the color code so BR might me Black and Red or WB might be White and blue.
then they stick on the version number after that like (Version) 2. Also the Zero and O's look the same so that can add confusion when typing in and doing searches.
so style # MT10BS2 = mens trail 10 black-silver version 2
